Cate Blanchett and Judi Dench are wonderfully paired in this tense movie of scandal and betrayal at a secondary school in Britain. Both teachers at a school, Dench plays the older established history teacher and befriends the somewhat lightweight art teacher Blanchett as she unsuccessfully tries to discipline her students. When married Blanchett has an affair with a student, Dench knows her secret and uses it as a secret weapon to win her over from husband. As Dench dutifully records her daily notes in her diary, she reveals the cunning and level of determination as she stalks her prey.
