"This is a wonderful collection of short and quirky stories that are highly entertaining and most digestible in small portions – especially if you only have a few minutes of reading time here and there."
"The characters are warm, funny, and often sit on the fence between being everyday real-life people or complete flights of fancy. Depending on your mood, you can imagine them either way. Kate Atkinson is a master of capturing the minds and true psyches of her characters, regardless of their ages. As the reader, you understand her character’s perspectives immediately. Kate also does a wonderful job of embellishing the narrative with just the right amount of detail to keep your attention but not bog down the story. I often found myself thinking, “Oh, what’s this?” and returning to read again the delightful details."
My only (tiny) criticism is that some of the dialogue might be a bit too intellectual in places, and detracts from the fantasy and delights of the characters and story lines. Other than that, this book is as much fun as running barefoot on the beach on a warm day.
