"Meghann and Claire were close growing up together in a somewhat dysfunctional family with an absentee mother, but they pursued different paths as adults and grew very distant. Younger Claire helps run the family business with their father, while older Meg has become a prominent Seattle lawyer. Claire wants to reunite with Meg, so she asks divorced Meg to come home and help plan her wedding. This reunion is rocky at best, and the sisters alternate between letting it go and trying to make their relationship work. Meg also works through issues such as her own love life, her relationship with their father, and trying to forgive their dysfunctional mother.
This is a charming book with lots of surprises as the plot unfolds. It is very much a page-turner. Parts of it will make you laugh and parts will make you cry. Anyone who has a sister will find lots of issues with which to identify and commiserate. This makes a great gift to give your sister, also, whether or not you're on speaking terms! You will love Kristin Hannah's style and she really brings the characters to life."
